Our Story
The Frogs Bar was founded in 2016 by Angelos, a captain and passionate traveler who envisioned a meeting place where people from around the world could connect.
Originally launched as a bar in Psiri, it quickly became a popular gathering place for travelers and locals. In 2018, the concept expanded to include boutique accommodation, transforming The Frogs into a unique guesthouse in central Athens.
Set on Aristofanous Street, our name is inspired by Aristophanes, the legendary ancient Greek playwright and his famous comedy The Frogs. This connection to Greek history reflects the spirit of our guesthouse: a place where culture, humor, connection and hospitality come together.
Whether you are visiting Athens for history, food, culture or nightlife, The Frogs offers a comfortable and unique place to stay in the heart of the city.
A Historic Neoclassical Building from 1840
The main house of The Frogs is located inside a beautiful neoclassical building built in 1840, preserving elements of traditional Athenian architecture.
In the breakfast and bar area, the original white stone walls remain visible, giving guests a glimpse into the history of the building.
The main house offers three boutique-style rooms, each decorated with soft classical colors and Greek design elements:
● Double Room
● Triple Room
● Top-floor Suite
All rooms are accessible by stairs, reflecting the authentic character of this historic property.
Additional Modern Rooms Next Door
These include:
● The Loft – a spacious apartment for up to four guests, featuring a kitchenette ideal also for longer stays - Ground Floor
● African Room – a stylish modern double room - Ground Floor
● Sailor Room – a unique triple room with a nautical theme - First floor / narrow stair case
These spaces provide guests with modern comfort while staying close to Athens’ historic center.
The Frogs Bar – A Meeting Place for Travelers Day and Night
The Frogs Bar remains at the heart of the guesthouse experience. Guests often gather here before heading out to explore Athens, enjoy a drink before dinner, or return for a relaxed nightcap.
In the mornings, the bar transforms into our breakfast and brunch space, open from 08:00 to 13:00 for both in-house guests and visitors from the neighborhood. We intentionally keep breakfast running longer, as we understand that travelers often enjoy sleeping in and starting their day at their own pace.
Our small menu features fresh local breakfast options, perfect for beginning a day of exploring Athens. We highly recommend trying our Frogs Omelette or Avocado Toast, ideally accompanied by a Freddo Espresso, Greece’s beloved cold coffee.
The bar creates a friendly atmosphere where travelers meet, share stories, and experience the vibrant social life of Athens.
